Alabama guard Latrell Wrightsell will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season because of a ruptured Achilles tendon, coach Nate Oats said Tuesday.
In the No. 10 Crimson Tide’s loss Saturday to Oregon in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, Wrightsell departed with a lower leg injury. After releasing a 3-point attempt, he fell to the ground in pain.
Wrightsell, a returnee from Alabama’s Final Four team, received further evaluation Monday in Tuscaloosa before being declared out.
In eight games (five starts) this season, Wrightsell is averaging 11.5 points and shooting a team-high 42.2 percent from 3-point range.
Last season, Wrightsell appeared in 31 games, averaging 8.9 points and making 44.7 percent of his 3-point tries.
Oats said Alabama is exploring a medical redshirt for Wrightsell, who played three seasons at Cal State Fullerton before transferring.
The Crimson Tide (6-2) will play at No. 20 North Carolina (4-3) on Wednesday as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge.
