Elissa Ennis, the ex-girlfriend of San Francisco 49ers’ linebacker Reuben Foster, testified in a court hearing Thursday her domestic violence accusations were part of a money scheme and that Foster never hit her.
Foster is in court over felony charges of domestic violence, forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime, and possession of an assault weapon stemming from an arrest following a dispute between he and Ennis at their Los Gatos, California residence on February 11. Foster stands accused by Ennis of hitting her 10 times during an argument, which led to a ruptured ear drum, and dragged her down a set of stairs by her hair and threw her out of the house.
Ennis recanted all of her previous accusations in court throughout the hearing Thursday. She said the night before the alleged incident she was in a road rage fight in San Francisco. She came home, told Foster about the incident in which Foster responded by refusing to speak to her. The next morning Foster told Ennis he wanted to end their relationship , she responded by saying she would “f*** yo s*** up, you won’t have a job tomorrow.” She later added she “really wanted to kill him. I was so hurt.”
She testified she was the one who threw a cell phone, not him and also said “I wanted to sue Reuben,” Ennis said It was a money scheme. It was all about money. I wanted to get him.”
After Foster was arrested, she went home to Louisiana and took Foster’s money and jewelry with her and hid them in a safe deposit box.
When asked if Foster ever struck her she said, “no sir, not once.I was lying about a bunch of stuff” when confronted about her hospital reports. She also noted Foster never dragged her by her hair or threw her dog.
Ennis’ testimony could lead the all charges being dropped against Foster.
